15 single family houses on a former slaughterhouse in Belgium.

The project consists of the construction of 15 single-family houses on a former slaughterhouse site, in Chapelle Lez Herlaimont, Belgium. The master plan gets inspired from traditional Belgium houses scheme and is adapted to the actual site configuration: on the main street there are houses in a raw, with access from the front garden. Given both the size and the orientation of the area, two houses face rue de Gouy in line with the existing buildings, whereas the other 13 houses are placed along a new pedestrian area on the south [of the site], which leads to the common garden. Each house is decorated with different colors cement paneling, which make them recognizable from the outside. The houses are divided in three groups, and may be realized in three separated constructive phases. The typologies of the houses are 6, 4, 3 and 2 bed-rooms. The common garden is partially destined to urban orchards, in order to reduce the maintenance cost as well as promote social life across neighbors. The social and age mixitè is encouraged by the combination of different house typologies.
